So i get VERY VERY VERY upset when people tell me that political science is not a science at all. They dont understand that we ANALYZE and INTERPRET everything that we read (it is a science). i HATE when people tell me my degree will be useless and that i should do something else with my life. (I actually spend hours in front of the computer translating data... for "fun".)
mainly i hate it when people that see me study tell me my major is B.S.
or when i state that i have a clear FACT and people tell me it is "not true" because in their mind it would be an "opinion." (I'm really learning things here...i don't make things up or put my thoughts into a facts! Trust that CMU is working and that i MIGHT know more than you in SOMETHING! -meaning my effin MAJOR- )

awhile back tami eric and myself decided that we would cook a turkey on the sunday of finals week so we would have something good to eat all week. being that i cook the majority of the meals around here anyway i was the lucky one to cook our 15 pound bird.
now, being that i was using a college apartment kitchen my tools were very limited. for example, i did not have a pan large enough to hold a 15 pound anything, let alone something that has wings stickin out on the sides. so, the wings of our bird were hanging over the edge of the pan.
let me start at the begining... i have a fear of raw meat, so when i took the turkey out of the package and a mixture of turkey blood and salmonila were all over i knew it was going to be a trying day. so i get the turkey out and realize my pan dilema, but i survive. then i must remove the gizzards and neck. the neck wasn't bad (i broke in on tami in the shower and shoved the neck in her face while gobbling at her hahaha)but reaching your hand into a turkey to pull out the intestines while your 21 year old guy roommate makes fun of the "sexual" things you are doing to a turkey is a lil awkward. anyway, then i start to season our turkey.
to do this you must cut holes in the skin and shove the seasonings underneath so the meat gets flavoring too. so im doin just fine when a tiny slip of the knife causes me to slice the skin on my finer instead of the skin on the turkey. no big deal, it was a clean cut so i wash it out put a bandaid back on it and get back to my task at hand.
so everything is all fine and my turkey gets in the oven at about 12:30. after about an hour of thinking im a master chef i hear sizzling, which is definatley not supposed to happen. so i go check it out. i open the oven door and a huge cloud of black smoke pours out. uh oh.
now, as you know turkeys take like 5 hours to cook, so im extremely concerned because its pretty much impossible to burn a turkey in an hour. so i get the turkey out of the oven and the oven is still smoking like crazy. then i notice my problem. if you'll remember before i mentioned that the wings were hanging over the edge, this caused grease to drip off of them into my oven. this nearly caused a grease fire. which caused a TON of smoke and a pretty freaked out tina. so i wipe up the grease and wash it out with water, put a cookie sheet in the lower rack to catch the grease, and get my turkey back in the oven.
twenty minutes later i hear that sound again and start to panic. smoke everywhere. shit. so i take everything back out of the oven, grab a flashlight and actually scrub my oven clean. i used dishsoap and clorox and water and whatever else i could find that would remove the grease so i didnt burn down edgewood apartments.
my turkey gets back in the oven and the rest of my day goes of problem free. i ended up making an entire thanksgiving meal (turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, and pudding) and it was delicious and im very proud (even though i nearly started a huge fire).
here's the kicker, one of the other kitchen supplies that we lack is a dishwasher. now we typically take turns doing the dishes but we decided that since it's finals week and we wont have much time everyone will be in charge of their own dishes blah blah blah. sounds fair. so we finish the meal and this is how the conversation went:
Eric: wow, look at all of the dishes tina used to cook dinner.
Tami: haha yup, shes going to be washing dishes all night.
Me: fuck you guys i just cooked for over 5 hours, scrubbed our stove out, and sliced my finger open so you could have a good meal.
Eric and Tami: hahahaha too bad
so today i washed dishes forever. and all the scrubbing ripped my finger back open. assholes.
anyway, i supose i should study a little and get to bed considering i have my biggest final in 12 hours and the only studying i've done was while watching monday night football. yup, im a great student.

so i was just going over what classes i have to take before i can graduate....
turns out i could be out of here in three more semesters EXCEPT i have to decide on more science to take. i thought the only draw back of a B.A. was the language part, apparently i have to get 8 credit hours in one science discipline. ugh.
oh well... i'll manage.
less than a week till im home!!!

so i'm kinda noticing more and more that my trips home are semi-pointless. at least for this many days. i mean, yeah it's great to see my family but aside from that i basically see the people that i see at school. plus there i get my own room and i get to work on my own schedule. this is going to make semester break... interesting... maybe i'll just work a lot
example: wed. night was awesome, i saw a ton of people and had a blast. (although i did get a huge bruise on my thigh and like no sleep) but after wed. the only people i saw that dont go to central we're krystin, family, and customers at family video. not that i didn't want to see more people, i just didn't.
plus i always bring my books home with the intention of getting homework done and they just sit there... then i have to work super hard on sunday/monday to make up for it.
anyway. jennie you would have been so proud of the game of COD that tami, joy, and i played on thursday night!!! TAMI PLAYED ALL OF THE GAMES! we had a headstand contest, a staring contest, rock-paper-scisors, high/low, we made a catergory of "things tami hates" and it went on FOREVER!! needless to say, you were missed.
work this weekend was GREAT! i actually felt productive! i love my job! ooo and i got to rent Mr. and Mrs. Smith, i LOVED it! yay for job perks! but if i talk about this anymore tami will tell me to get a raise...
ooo one very exciting thing about this weekend is i found out my aunt is pregnant!!! i can't wait!! shes not due till july, i dont know how im going to make it that long. in the past 4 years on that side of my family 6 girls have been born and 0 boys... i kinda hope she has a lil boy for a change!!
anyway, i better wrap up my laundry and get packing because i have no idea what time ericjulien wants to leave... be home in a few weeks!!!

you know it's bad when you wake up extra early to do homework but instead you update your livejournal...
leading me to the point that i think im already (mentally at least) on thanksgiving break. these are going to be the longest three days! but then it's home!!! even though i barely get to see my family, me (being the smart girl that i am) volunteered to work on thanksgiving. now phillip is going to beat me up and i wont see anyone. oh well, easy money i guess. plus i felt bad, everyone else i work with has like husband/wife, kids, blah blah so i felt like the loner college kid who should sacrafice herself in order to make a few bucks. (it wasn't till after the schedule was made that phillip offered me 48 non-taxed dollars not to go in.
anyway, aside from the death of Steve the cancer Hampster this weekend was fun. due to the fact that dave and eric dont have phones and del was hammered we didnt see the guys on friday buuuttt we did on saturday. so instead we hung out at home. Tami thinks that staying at home is "doing something" now, which i dont believe but whatever.
anyway, i have this 5-7 minute french skit at 11 that i dont know my lines for. french is hard, and i dont have a good accent. come to think of it i am just plain bad at accents, espically arnold haha!! time to study a tiny bit so my group doesn't kill me.

so for these past few days my neck has been VERY sore. unresonably sore. so sore and tense that you could see my neck knots so i had to wear a turtle neck today. ugh. ouch.
tomorrow is my last exam until finals! HUGE sigh of relief. these past few weeks have been sooo busy i cant wait to have a little down time before finals.
this past weekend we had beer olympics. i was japan and it was awesome. i played flip cup for the first time in a very long time and actually loved it. (sorry tami) plus beer soup is like one of my new favorite games, just because you look rediculous.
i've been working on the living situation for next year already. tami joy and i have walked downtown and back twice in the past week trying to look at this "great house" but no one was ever there. we missed our chance on that one i guess. maybe we should take it as a sign and live with ericjulien? i dont know what i want to do, all i know is i want to get out of edgewood. ah well.
only a week till thanksgiving break.... i cant wait! i have to miss out on thanksgiving dinner :( to work, and i have to work till ten on friday but i guess time away from class will be good enough in itself. anyway i wont have anything to do friday 10:01-whenever we leave on sunday so (phillip im talking to you) call me.
anyway, im about to watch madagascar and try to work out these knots. :)

so, as you may have noticed i missed out on all of the awesome halloween festivities.
here's the deal, since the best part of my saturday was when went to Zabro's with my three favorites everyone should tell me their favorite part to this weekend. then it will be like i was almost there!
and im sure joy, jennie, tami, and probably eric will be the only ones to do it so i think the rest of you should shock me and put something, anything!!
oh yeah, and im really sorry if i infected anyone with the flu.

well, baseball is over. im sick of teams breaking their stupid curses. what once a curse has been around for 85+ years you can break it just like that?? WTF!? anyway i thought houston really deserved it. oh well, go white sox or whatever, congrats. god i hate teams that are named after clothing. stupid sox. the curse of the sox.
this really put a damper on my halloween weekend. thank god for alcohol, right?

i was on campus for like 10 hours today. i feel like jennie or dave. (by the way i dont know how you guys do it) anyway, point being the LAST thing tami and i had to do on campus today was an SDA101 exam. neither of us bothered to study because we had a study session for an hour right before. so, we get into our exam and its a 60 question multiple choice exam. awesome.
not only was this the easiest college exam i've EVER taken but i was taking it with tami, and we all know how competitive tami can get. right before they handed us our exams tami goes, "so do you want to make this a race?" and me trying to be the serious student said, "no tami if anything we should make it a backwards race and the first person done loses for rushing...."
ha okay i actually said, "yeah loser buys dinner"
so we raced our way through this BS exam, i answered 60 Q's in less than 15 minutes. the review session we had gave us the exact questions. i flew through it and most importantly KICKED TAMI'S ASS!!! hahaha so tami bought me food today :) but to pay her back im about to surprise clean the apartment while she naps.
this week has been soooo much better than last....

so after a domino effect of crappy events i've decided that until 2 o'clock today im doin whatever i want.
meaning im sitting around remembering bernie. im gona miss him next season.
but one good thing did happen, tami lost the bet!!! well, not lost technically, but she did drink before 4 weeks were up. i missed drunk tami. last night was fun. i went 3-1 in beer pong. dominated in those three, but that last game i got my ass kicked. ooops. ah well.
oh anyway, the point of this post is that this morning eric left for class before me and he goes, "if i leave before you, you wont make it." and of course i was like "blah blah yes i will blah" then i got to thinking, and realized in not doing squat in any of my classes. plus im kinda at the point where i just wanted to say fuck it. so i did, and here i am, doing nothing. possibly napping and watching sin city. hahaha to you school.
so boo to the shitty weekend/shitty monday, yay for tami drinking, boo to my yankees losing, yay for bernie's great career... i could keep going but you get the point.

does anyone else HATE when you're working on a HUGE group project and you seem to be the only one working?? or even concerened?
blah anyway..
this past weekend was great, except for sunday when it rained ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day long. but yeah, friday i finally made it to one of kyle's parties which was great as ever. katie and i were pretty much glued at the hip all night. ew except for when kenny and i watched fat ray's friend show her boobies. stripper poles should be highly supervised. saturday was tailgaiting where i gave joy some tips which were then passed on to jennie. hung out by eugene for awhile, never saw eric or anyone that i thought i would though. ah well. skipped the game to take a much needed nap then woke up and could not drink. i felt like crap. watched some jumanji. still had a good night.
tami's still sober, its been over a week. i miss tami. i mean, yeah she's still tami but not drunk tami. she hasn't played beer pong or anything. hasn't slipped up once. i even offered a vow of silence if she would just play one game with me. didn't work. oh well, three weeks left.
grey's anatomy started last night. <3
time to go watch some poker/cook some dinner.

this past weekend was great... carol and wayne's wedding was beautiful and the reception was a blast. i had the best date ever. (no eric, you did not have the best date ever because your's was illegal!!!) and i got to bond with harriet, and play bar tender... what more could i ask for? haha. after the wedding was back to my place for a bit. best game of COD ever haha the marissa/kevin rule. plus tami sealed the deal like 24 times with adam but never followed through. this weekend was just what i needed. :)
then i got to wake up bright and early and clean up and come back to school. boooo.
sunday was all homework. and i forgot my french book at home.
monday i had the flu. but i got to watch prison break.
tuesday i woke up, passed out in my doorway and smashed my head on something. eric had to kick me to wake me up.
so it's been a rough start to the week but eric is makin sure i live to see my bday. i cant wait!!!
anyway, time to eat more soup and sit on the couch. :\
